The Estate of Things TEOT icon

We are a home and garden retail, interior design and lifestyle brand with a keen bi-coastal design sensibility — inspired by a mix of vintage with new, high with low, and traditional with eclectic.

We were established on a set of barstools in Southern Pines, NC in 2007, by founders Sarah Farrell & Betsy Moyer.

Through the years The Estate of Things has come to mean more and more. But always it is the blend of Betsy & Sarah's shared love for all things home.

Our styles are best where they intersect and merge. We each lean on the tenets of tradition and we layer with our most recent obsessions, with our sentimental accessories, our collections, the indulgences that we have picked up a taste for along the way. We bring a bit of SoCal's Casual Luxury to the North Carolina, and our Southern Heritage to SoCal.

We are into anything Farmhouse, Cottage or Midcentury. We love New Traditional as well as an eclectic mix, we seek timelessness, we study iconic design. We are inspired by coastal living as much as we are cabin life in the mountains. We are definitely feeling the recent surge of interest in British Design and we have long loved to look to a European eat-in kitchen for inspiration in our latest remodel.

Sarah & Betsy started blogging about lifestyle, home decor and renovation in 2008. The blog served to keep us old friends & former college roommates connected over our shared passion for design, despite the 3000 miles of distance between California and North Carolina.

The Estate of Things blog quickly grew a following. Sarah’s documented renovation projects were snatched by publications like Domaine Home, Southern Living, House Beautiful, Apartment Therapy, Good Housekeeping and The Huffington Post. Bob Villa himself shared her work on the Indiana House.

In the following decade we would realize our initial dream of opening up a brick and mortar retail store and launching a robust ecommerce offering. Our flagship shop grew into a larger location in Southern Pines, NC and inspired a satellite location at the Mart Collective in Venice, CA. After a few years of the grind, we have scaled back from physical sales to concentrate on our endeavors in Real Estate & Interior Design.

Today, TEOT is a hustling bustling online shop full of the products we love for our own homes. The Estate of Things blog remains a place to document the continuous love we share for all things home. Of course now you can also find us on Instagram @theEstateofThings and @ShopTEOT.
